Our very first recipients were students who didn’t have access to a device during the pandemic. We’re talking about kids who were trying to log into school on a parent’s phone or having to share one device between multiple siblings, if they even had one at all.

Alexander Calderon is a first-generation Chicago native leveraging over two decades of experience as a seasoned IT professional and business leader. His passion for technology began early when he started taking apart and rebuilding electronics at home, which marked the beginning of his lifelong career in technology. Alex holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MBA from Northeastern Illinois University, solidifying his technical and business acumen.

CBS CHICAGO: Nonprofit Dandole Tech helping address the digital divide

The COVID lockdown showed us how big the digital divide is in Chicago; students who have access to computers and the internet, and students who live in areas with no access or in homes with no computers. A Chicago woman is helping close that divide through the non-profit Dandole Tech.
